Nashville Birthday Bash: Honky Tonks, Brunch, and Bourbon Steak!

On Our Way to Nashville
On Our Way to Nashville

Here we are in the middle of July and it is hard to believe that a month ago we were in Nashville, TN for the 50 birthday celebration for Corrie. We had a great time. I meant to write this following the trip, but we were busy following the trip and did not get it done. We had a wonderful time in Nashville and plan to go back in the future. We went to so many great spots to listen to great music, drink, and of course we ate at some great spots too. This will be a few of the places we went but not an inclusive list.

Having Drinks at Assembly Food Hall
Drinks at Assembly Food Hall

We were in Nashville from June 13 - 17. We packed in a lot during our time there. We would sometimes sleep late to about 9:30 or 10, but we were out the door and doing things in Nashville everyday we were there. We would not head back to take naps or breaks, but it was nonstop and a great time. Picture to the left was a spot we ended up a few different times called Assembly Food Hall. A variety of places to eat or get drink. Fun spot!

Group at Brunch

There were ten of us total on the trip although all ten were together I believe only two days together. Picture to the right was brunch at Adele's where we went Saturday morning on June 15. We all came away stuffed and happy. I want to go back there in the future for dinner. We spent that day going between drinking spots while the ladies went shopping.

I am jumping around a bit, but on Thursday we spent the day on Broadway going around to the various bars. It was so fun with great bands at each and every stop. Some places would have multiple bands playing at the same time, but the way the bars were set up, you could only hear one when in the vicinity of that band. Most bands would take donations with a bucket or with a QR code to send money. We did both methods while we were going around Broadway listening where we would drop cash into a bands bucket or send Venmo through their QR code.

Dinner at Bourbon Steak in a Private Dining Room
Dinner at Bourbon Steak

The highlight of the trip was the birthday dinner for Corrie at Bourbon Steak. We had reservations for ten and we had talked about doing a private dining room but ended up leaving it in the main dining room. When we arrived, we were surprised they took us to the private dining. It was incredible with the views, the food, and the company. The picture to the left, or the others in Flickr album, do not give it justice. We had our own wait staff that took good care of us. Javier was in charge of the wine and we had three bottles of wine through the night. It was a fantastic evening!

Celebrating Javier's Journey to Citizenship

Javier in 2009 Riding in Limo After Being Out of Country
Javier in 2009
Our friend Javier recently achieved a major milestone – becoming a United States citizen! We've known Javier since his days attending Washburn University to get his MBA and then after he graduated with his MBA, he got a jot at Frito Lay. Back in 2009, we even went the extra mile to help him out with his house and finances while he was back in Costa Rica, ensuring things ran smoothly as he completed the process to work legally in the US.

Fast forward to April 27th, 2024, and the big day for Javier's citizenship ceremony finally arrived. He let us know on Thursday, and we surprised him with a trip down to Dallas, Texas to celebrate. But we weren't the only ones with a surprise up their sleeve – our friend Corrie from Houston also made the trip to celebrate with Javier! We managed to keep it a secret, making the reunion even more special.

Javier got us a limo to take to the ceremony that then dropped us off at Rodeo Goat for a late lunch. With Corrie coming in Saturday morning and it being a surprise for Javier, we had to ask that the limo pick Carrie and I up at the hotel which was really so Corrie could ride in the limo too. Carrie, Corrie, Jess, Brock, and Kim all went to the ceremony to celebrate Javier becoming a citizen. We all had to remain outside as the event space was small and one hundred people at a time become citizens, so there is not a lot of room available within the swearing in location. We all stayed outside of the main doors and cheered when Javier, and others, came out after becoming citizens.

I am excited for Javier to have this completed. He can now vote in the United States elections. He is able to know that his retirement will go to him and not be seized by the government through future changes. He also keeps his residency to Costa Rica which is still in our plans to some day retire to Costa Rica, so I am glad that he keeps his residency to his home country.

It was an incredible experience to witness hundreds of people from all backgrounds taking this important step. The excitement was contagious as they exited the ceremony, waving American flags and met with chants of "USA! USA!"

Congrats Javier on becoming a citizen of the United States.

Trip to Palm Springs, CA November 30 - December 4 Update... Note, we had a great time!

Mountains, Palm Trees, and Palm Springs, California
Mountains and Palm Trees

I did not have a chance to write up our trip to Palm Springs, California after we got back. We went to Palm Springs, CA November 30 - December 4. We met Javier and Corrie in Palm Springs. We got together a few weeks ahead of our trip to pick a place to go. We wanted to go some place that none of us had been before. This took a few messages back and forth and discussions before we finally landed on Palm Springs, California. Palm Springs did not disappoint! We had a great time! It was beautiful and we ate at some good places as well as had drinks at some good spots too.

Breakfast at Farm in Palm Springs, CA
Breakfast at Farm in Palm Springs
For breakfast the first day, we went to Farm in Palm Springs. A breakfast spot that was amazing. The set up of Farm was cool with indoor and outdoor sitting. The drinks were amazing! The Bloody Mary here was so good, I could have had a few of those. Breakfast was simple and delicious with some really good fried potatoes.

We wanted to get an early start to the day as we had plans to visit Joshua Tree National Park, do some bar hopping, and then have dinner at a fancy place that night. A lot planned for our first full day in Palm Springs, California.

Sun Behind Tree at Joshua Tree National Park
Tree Behind Joshua Tree
During the day, we drove out to Joshua Tree National Park to look around. Beautiful to see it and yes it was a bit chilly. We saw people climbing the rocks and on top of the high cliffs which was cool, but mainly, we enjoyed looking at the mountains against the sky with Joshua Trees mixed in and around the area. I am so glad that we decided to go out this day instead of waiting until the weekend to get out to see the sights.

Early evening found us at The Parker Palm Springs for drinks. We took an Uber to start our evening with drinks before heading to dinner. It was a cool spot where we later learned that movie stars would frequent for an after party for an event that takes place each year in Palm Springs. We only had drinks here and a lot of laughs. It was a fun spot and glad we were able to make it there before our evening of dinner.

Group Picture at Bar Cecil for Dinner

That night, we had reservations at Bar Cecil that Carrie had found and got up early a month earlier to get reservations. As I mentioned, Carrie had to get up early a month prior to get reservations. She had read some place that reservations were hard to get and they opened a month in advance, so she got up early one morning in October to get our reservations. I am so glad she did! We had a great time!

Palm Springs reminded me a lot of Albuquerque, NM that we have visited a number of times for vacation. The mountains, look of the homes in the area, and the weather made me think of Albuquerque. In the evening, it would get rather chilly and we especially felt the cold when we traveled up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway which took us to the top of a mountain to overlook Palm Springs. We had drinks at the top of the mountain while looking at the views before heading out to see the rest of Palm Springs.

Palm Springs Trip

As you can see from our pictures and description, we had an excellent time. As I mentioned in the first paragraph, we plan to do this on an annual basis where we pick a location where none of us have been. We recognize this will become a tough task as it took us a while to land on Palm Springs that none of us had been to before, but it is a good challenge and I look forward to see where we go next year when we make the trip to the unknown.

Until next time, I hope you have wonderful travels and are able to visit some place new each year.

Our Summer Vacation in Texas from July 2016

Crystal Beach in Galveston, Texas

Carrie and I have been so busy the past month and half. We went on vacation the first part of July and leading up to those vacation days and after, it seems like we have been non-stop on the go. Things are good, but just really busy. At work and at home. Seems like there is always something happening. It is good, but also nice to just have a relaxing weekend every now and again. Finally, today, I have such a day where can just relax and not do anything.

Oliver Riding in the Car to Texas
Our trip to Texas for vacation was a lot of fun. We decided to drive this time instead of flying. This would allow us to take our dog, Oliver, on the trip with us. He is a great travel pet. He sleeps the whole time and enjoys riding in the car. He wakes up every now and again to look at the window, see if we are still in the car, or just to enjoy the ride. Our trip started out from Topeka as went drove to Dallas to visit Javier.

Birthday Celebration with JavierWe were able to celebrate Javiers' birthday with him. Took him out to a nice place to eat. We also enjoyed a few beers with him too. Got to see his new house and Oliver got hairs all over his new place. After spending a few days in Dallas,  we left for Houston to visit Cory and her kids. We were there in Houston for the July 4 celebration. We had a great time at her parents pool and even did some fireworks while we were there too.

Pool Time on July 4 in HoustonWe spent a few more days in Houston before we got in the car again with Cory to head to the beach. We went to Crystal Beach in Galveston, Texas. It was very hot, but we had a great time! Yes, we took Oliver to the beach and it was so fun to see his first experience seeing water, seeing waves, and running on the beach.

We normally keep Oliver on a leash, but this day, we decided it was a good idea to release him. He would stick around. There might have been a little protest to releasing him from the leash as it is known back in Topeka, he will take off if no gate and no leash. Yet, we went ahead and removed him from the leash. He stuck around for a few seconds, realized he was not hooked to the leach, and took off running as fast as he could. He ran down one way of the beach, stopped and looked at us following and yelling for him to come back, then ran the other direction right past us again. He stopped in front of our spot on the beach and seemed to catch his breath. Then went running off the other directions and did the same routine again running as fast as he could. Two spots down on the beach and the lady there told me "he is fast!", yeah, he is very fast and seems to run his fastest when off leash and no fences. He was running so far sand was flying up behind him in almost a cloud behind him as he ran. Wow!

Here are some pictures of Oliver at the beach that day and you will note he is on the leash. Such a good boy!

Oliver on the Beach Oliver Playing on the Beach First time seeing a beach or water

He was so happy and really did not mind the water. He did freak out as the waves would come into shore. He would be down close to the water and as the wave would come in he would run back up away from the water. He looked so happy and seemed to have a smile on his face the whole time we were down at the beach.

Following our time at Crystal Beach, we headed back to Houston for a few days. We left to head to Dallas and spend the night with Javier one last time before we headed out back to Topeka.

Wonderful trip and great to be a able to take our dog with us on the trip too. I hope that as Carrie and I look for future trips, we can find places to go and places to stay where we can take Oliver.

See all the pictures from our summer vacation below....

Trip to Texas 2016 Pictures

As the summer is starting to wind down and hopefully the heat starts to cool, I realized that I had not posted in over a month. As we were on our vacation, I had not posted about July 4 or what we did that day. So, I decided to post a summary of our vacation and what has happened this summer.

Vacation and being busy has taken a toll on both Carrie and I for being in the exercise routine. We have somewhat dropped out of the routine, but plan to get back into it aggressively as we head into the start of the semester.

Carrie is taking a class for the first time at Washburn that she is very excited to be doing. I am taking my second class in two semesters. I am starting a master program at Washburn in Communication and Leadership. I am very excited. It will take me a while to complete the masters program as I am doing one class per semester.

It should be a fun and interesting rest of the year. I trust everyone has had a wonderful summer. I would love to hear from you about our trip to Texas. Share your travel experiences from the summer, or just say hello.

BolderBoulder in Denver, CO

Picture of Haverty Running
Headed to the finish line.

What a great event! We had such a great time running in this race. Seems like just yesterday, but it is already almost two months ago. The summer is winding down and I am in a slump with running. We will get to more of that later.

First of all, I would like to say I cannot believe it has been about two months since my last post. The last time I posted was about a week before we left for Colorado for this race. I had plans of posting on a regular basis through the summer months on my status with running, races, and of course summer. You can see how far I got with the posting part of that, but I have been happy with my running and races ... for the most part!

The last race I ran was the BolderBoulder in Colorado. Up until about July 3, I was running and exercising on a regular basis. I was running a minimum of three times a week and sometimes four times. I was doing a spin class three times a week. Since July 3, that came to a halt. Having holidays in the mix tend to cause issues with my exercise routine. Then, once the holiday is over, I lose the energy to keep it going. I did manage to get back to spin class twice this past week. No running since July 3. I do intend to start running again tomorrow. I am not planning on doing anything crazy, but just a nice easy two or three mile run.

Back to information about the race.... It was a beautiful Memorial Day weekend in Denver, Colorado. Brenda, Carrie, and I drove out to Colorado for the race. We met our friend, Javier, in Colorado. Javier and I ran the race while Brenda and Carrie walked. I did not have problems with race at all. I felt good throughout the run and it was exciting finishing the race running into Bolder football stadium.

Javier and I broke apart from one another about the two mile marker. I did manage to find him again at the finish line. I ran the race in 1:11:48.74. While I had only run a 10K one other time leading up to this race, I was hoping for a little bit faster. I trained using a Couch to 10K app which worked great... Taking a few breaks through the months leading up to the race, I did not account for enough time to finish the app and race time. So, I only had the one real 10K run leading up to race day. That first 10K I ran in about 1:09 and it was in my neighborhood. So, I was only a little disappointed with 1:11 for the race. I think a lot of that had to do with the number of people running. There were water stations at each mile marker which was great, but the number of people stopping to get water made it so that I had to walk into those areas to get water. Not that I was complaining though as I was winded and thirsty at those times, but it did slow me down a bit.

Overall, I was happy with the results and it was a race that I would definitely run again. We are talking about doing it again next year, but so far, we have not made reservations for hotels or gone beyond the talking point. If we are going to do it again next year, we need to book our hotel as they filled up fast!

Post Race Picture
Javi and I enjoying beer after the race.

The festivities following the race were a lot of fun too! Of course there was beer and there were all kinds of vendors. We picked up all kinds of swag and sampled all kinds of sports foods as well as delicious beer. One of the things we tried was a PowerBar. I had tried PowerBar years ago and did not care for it at all. Well, let me tell you they have come a long way in the R&D on nutrional bars. It was actually gummy type of things that PowerBar was providing as samples and they were so good! Much better than the "chocolate" bars I had so many years ago.

Being in Colorado is always fun! It is so beautiful out there and the weather is always great too. It was rather a quick trip as we went out on a Saturday and went back home on a Tuesday. Definitely worth the trip! I did manage to take some pictures while we were out there, but not a lot. We managed to get around to sample wine and beers while we were out there. A brewery that we went to two years ago when we were out there too was Upslope and we went back there again this year too. Good beer and I love their bar/brewery.

I am sorry it has been so long since my last post. I have been thinking about making posts on some technology type of issues, but I am still pondering exactly what to post about those ideas. There are the Royals that I could post about too, so I might do that as a way to keep my site at least some what active.

Until my next post, have a great rest of the summer...

Sidney Our Friend... Our Cat... Put to Rest Tuesday, June 7 at 9:30 am

Oh to lose a family pet. It has been a long time since I went through the pain I am feeling today. The last time I went through this was my senior year of high school. I had a dog named Captain that I had had from the time he was a puppy to his death. With Captain, the decision was "easier" because we knew he was hurting and we could see the sores (cancer) on his chest. He would sleep in the garage and we could see where he had slept by the dampness on the ground from his chest. It was obvious the best thing to do for Captain was to put him to rest. That decision was also not mine, but I knew it was coming when my parents told me the time had come. I cried like a baby and I still miss him to this day.

On Tuesday, June 7, we put Sidney to rest. It was a difficult decision, but one that had to be made. We had watched Sidney age over the past few years and especially this last year. He lost a ton of weight and had been diagnosed with chronic renal failure. This has required us to take him to the vet four times this past year. Three of those were for enemas and those always wiped him out. We could see that he did not have near the energy he had had just a year ago and he slept a lot.

I am going to use this blog post as a memory for Sidney and to help me with my sorrow for losing a beloved pet and friend. I will discuss funny stories that Sidney did throughout the eleven years that I knew him and stories from before I knew him. I hope this brings a smile to your face and that you can relate with me on how great of a cat and friend Sidney was to Carrie and I.

I met Sidney back in October of 2000. I met him when I was dating Carrie and we had our first date after getting back from a cruise where we met. Little Sidney, all of seven years old, was still feeling frisky and that he had all of his man parts. My first meeting with Sidney was me changing the VCR tape (yes, we still had those) and Sidney trying to hump my leg. Carrie was embarrassed as her pet was trying to attack me. This happened a few more times not only when Carrie and I were dating, but up to this past month.
We would be sleeping and Sidney would jump on the bed to try and "get our legs". It made me laugh back when I first met him in 2000 and it still made me laugh a month ago. Carrie did research on it and found that it was a very common trait for cats that are neutered to do. The picture at the left is a picture from 2000-2001 of Sidney in the apartment of Brenda and Carries'. I believe he is drinking some milk in this picture.

Sidney and I lived together for a few months prior to Carrie and I getting married. This was our bonding time. When Carrie and I were dating and Carrie lived in Topeka with Brenda, I would visit their apartment and Sidney would tolerate me. Sniff me and try to hump my leg... He was not sure about this new guy that had started coming around his pad. After I proposed to Carrie and we bought a new home in Lawrence, I closed out my lease on a apartment in Lawrence and moved into our newly purchased house. Sidney moved in with me when Carrie moved back to her parents as we were preparing to get married.

Sidney became used to seeing me every day. I would pick him up and carry him like a baby only for the reason that he seemed to want that and seemed to like it. I would work with him on the computer in the basement and he would want to get in my lap. I would pick him up and work with him on my lap for most of the evening. If I moved for the slightest reason he would get irritated and jump off... only to return thirty or so minutes later wanting back on my lap. I would talk to Carrie and the phone and she could hear Sidney in the background as we spoke. I would share how Sidney and I were getting along living together and what a great kitty he was being.

One of my favorite Sidney stories is one evening (after Carrie and I were living in the house) I sneaked up on him and scared the living daylights out of him. I tried to sneak up on him all the time when we were the only ones in the house before Carrie moved in and then afterwards too. He would never let me do it.... He would hear me coming or see me and my game would be over.

One evening he was sitting at the top of the stairs with his back to the stairs. I was downstairs and I started to come up the stairs when I saw him sitting there. I knew he had not seen or heard me, so I moved cautiously up the stairs. I got on all fours and crawled up the last flight of stairs. He was still sitting there facing the kitchen and not paying any at tention.

I got to the point where I could reach and touch him... still he had no idea I was behind him. So, I reached out to touch him and he jumped five feet in the air. When he landed, he ran down the hallway to our bedroom. He paused before going into our bedroom to look back at me. He seemed somewhat surprised that I had been able to sneak up on him let alone scare him. I laughed and laughed that night. I had to tell Carrie all about it and recreate the scene for her. That was the only time I was able to scare Sidney. He never again let me sneak up on him... in that house or our house in Topeka. He always kept a eye on me and reacted at the slightest sound.

Another favorite story for which I was not present, but Carrie and Brenda told me about had to do with Sidney and Brenda's cat, Casper. Sidney was sitting on a chair minding his business. Casper jumped up on the chair and scared him. When Sidney went flying off of the chair he left a little piece of poop on the chair. Yes, Casper scared the shit out of him and he left it on the chair as proof. This is probably the reason why Sidney would never let me sneak up on him and when I finally did, it only happened the one time.

I still remember Sidney and Casper running through the apartment of Brenda and Carrie. When we would be downstairs and they would run through, it would sound like a party upstairs. They would chase each other through the house and run at full speed from the kitchen to the upstairs.

Anytime Carrie or I would sit down to use the computer (laptop), Sidney would have to jump and find a way to lay on the computer. We were never sure if he was jealous of the laptop or if it was just comfortable to lay on it knowing that we would be paying attention to it and possibly paying attention to him too. The picture to the left is one from a few years ago when he still had some meat on him, but you can see that he would lay as much on the computer as he could. When I would use the laptop, he would not do it as much with me. When Carrie would even touch the computer while on the couch, he would see her and immediately get that look in his eye that he had to get on the couch and be with her. He would circle around her a few times from one side of the couch to the other trying to find that perfect spot to lay down. He took some serious power naps by laying on the computer while one of us was "trying" to use it. He was so cute it was hard to tell him to get off or find another place to sleep.

Another favorite of ours is when Sidney would sleep between our legs. It was one of his favorites. Something he started within the last year was sleeping between my legs at night. I would wake up to find him snuggled up between my legs laying on top of the sheets. He would become irritated if I get up or need to move. The only shot we have of him in this position is another one of his favorites and that was when we were on the couch watching television.

In this picture he does not have the blankets to give the full effect, but you get the idea. He really enjoyed it when I would lay on the couch, or in my recliner, to watch football, golf, or anything else where there was a chance I might fall asleep too. I think he could sense when I was watching something that was going to put me to sleep. Or, as the case may be when I was in bed sleeping and he knew I was going to be there for the night, he would sleep on our bed between my legs.

You can see in the picture to the right how he tilts his head and really gets after the sleep. It was one of our favorites and if you look through his pictures you can see a variety of these poses where he is sleeping with his head tilted.

Another characteristic that we loved was when he was sleeping on the couch, usually by himself, he would put his forehead (or possibly nose) against the couch to sleep. It was almost as though it was comforting to him to be in this position. He would do this same sleeping style in other areas too, but primarily it was when he was sleeping on the couch.

I mentioned it early on about holding Sidney like a baby and so I had to share a picture of me holding him. Carrie and I believe he could have stayed like this for hours, but I usually had to put him down because my arms would start hurting. I think the longest I held him for was 30 minutes and even at that he had no intention of getting out of my arms.

I loved it when he would let me hold him like this and this all started back when Sidney was staying with me prior to Carrie moving in after we got married. He could and would stay like this for hours and hours. It was fantastic and I miss it so much!

As I would hold him, he would tilt his head so I could put kisses on his head. He would look back up in my eyes like I was the best thing that ever happened to him. It made me feel so good. He had just started another new "feature" in the past few months where when I would get ready to pick him up and I would bend over, he would back up into my hands so that I would pick him up. He would stretch out as I lifted him to my chest and began to cradle him. Below is a video Carrie took of us. It was taken on her phone, so the quality is not great, but you get the idea. See more videos at http://www.youtube.com/havertyj

I am not sure when it started, but at some point I started referring to Sidney as "Sidney Bodean". Sometimes I would just say "Bodean". I am not sure when it started, but it sorta stuck as Carrie would refer to Sidney as "Bodean" too sometimes. Or, we would both also always use "The Boy". We also came up with a few songs about Sidney.... Actually, I think it was Carrie that came up with all of the songs regarding Sidney. I love them all! Maybe we will record a few of them and post them at a later time. I am sure you will laugh... er, love them too!

Carrie told me of a story of when Sidney was a kitten and they were in Texas with her parents where Dad Shirron was shaking out a blanket... Little did they know that little Sidney had climbed inside and was sleeping. So, when Dad shook out the blanket out flew little Sidney. I can just see Sidney flying out of blanket and probably running for cover.

Carrie and I loved Sidney so much! He was our "child" and he was our "old man". We looked forward to coming home to him after a trip and to seeing him when we were home for lunch. He made our day, lit our nights, and provided a spark to our holidays. We love Christmas Sidney! I loved it when we would be outside and Sidney would want to go outside with us. He would sit at the front door looking out at us meowing and crying because we were not letting him out.

When I would come home for lunch during the week from work, Sidney would almost always greet me. His favorite thing to do was to go out with me to get the mail, go out in the garage and sniff around, and then finally to beg for whatever it was that I was eating for lunch. I loved it!

I feel blessed to have had Sidney in my life. I will miss him forever! Holding him in my arms when the vet put him down was the best and worst thing I have ever done. I am glad that I was able to provide comfort for Sidney as he went to a better place where he will never be uncomfortable again, but I felt like I was letting him down because he trusted me. I know that what we did was the best we could do our boy Sidney. I love him and miss him so much!

Reminder that the entire set of Sidney pictures can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/havertyj/sets/72157626907720862/with/5816626784/ As we come across other pictures, we will add them to the set.

I hope you have enjoyed my therapy session as I have gone through my memories of Sidney. If you have memories, I invite you to share those with me by commenting on this post.

Thank you!

Easter Sunday and Other Ramblings

It has been a great weekend! Javier and I worked in the yard most of Saturday afternoon.... finally! I mowed and he did the leaves. He would move the leaves out to the middle of the lawn and while I mowed, I picked them up. It worked out great! We worked for about 4 or 5 hours through the afternoon. Meanwhile, Carrie was a bake'n fool!

She made all kinds of goodies. Cakes, two different types of cookies, and marshmallows. You heard me right, she made marshmallows. Woh! They are really good! All in preparation of Easter Sunday.

Before we get to Easter Sunday, I have to take a moment to talk about the Final Four games from Saturday. The first game, Butler vs Michigan State, well, as I have stated previously, I have not really given a thought to who the champion should win since Kansas got knocked out, but now that Butler beat MSU, I am pulling for Butler. The second game had Duke playing Western Virginia. A game I really did not care about, but if I had a choice of the winner, I would have taken West Virginia. Nope, Duke ended up winning, so it will be Butler vs. Duke. I went into the Final Four not caring who would win, but now it is Butler all the way! I do not want Duke to win a national championship. I am hoping for a huge Butler win and knock out the Duke Blue Devils. Go Butler!

Sunday has been great! We met Carries' parents at the club for brunch. Kerrice and Greg did not make it as Kerrice was not feeling well (food poisoning), but we all had a nice time. We missed seeing Kerrice and Greg. The food was really good! I called and I spoke to my parents who I thought was having everyone up for Easter. They ended up not hearing from anyone, so decided to simply do Easter "pizza night". If I would have known, I would have invited them to Topeka for brunch. Darn!

After brunch, Carrie, Javier, and I all went driving around Topeka. We drove out to see Javier's house that he is currently renting and then we drove all over. Javier is looking for a new house, so we drove through various neighborhoods looking at what was for sale. We drove around for about an hour before heading home. Very relaxing... Now I am sitting outside on the front porch reading blogs and posting on my own blog. We are cooking out later and Brenda is coming over. What a great Easter Sunday!

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Easter! The NCAA title game is on tomorrow night and of course today marks the start of baseball season! Hopefully the Royals show up this year and kick some butt!

Until next time, have a great day!
